| What is pledgeship? |
Pledging Sigma Chi takes one semester and fulfills two purposes:
- Evaluation - Pledgeship is a time for us to get to know you and for you to get to know us. Rushing and pledging Sigma Chi or a fraternity at all is not for everyone. We would not want you to join Sigma Chi if you feel that this is not the right place for you.
- Learning - There is a lot to learn before you are ready to become a Sigma Chi. Throughout the semester we will teach you about our history and our procedures, as well as the ideals and guidelines that we live by. We would not want to initiate anyone who would not be committed to being a Sigma Chi. And despite everything you feel you will learn during your pledgeship, we have even more waiting to teach you once you become active. Learning is one of the basic principles our Fraternity is founded upon, and is necessary to become a Sigma Chi.

| What do I get/have to do? |
Pledging Sigma Chi is a unique, life-changing experience. First off, Sigma Chi is a non-hazing fraternity. You will not be tortured, abused, hurt, humiliated, or demeaned in any form. This is not our way.
However, pledging Sigma Chi is not a cakewalk either. There is a lot to learn in a semester and there is even more to do. This will be one of the best three months of your life and will challenge you to discover who you are. We are very proud of our pledge period at Gamma Xi.
We have a busy three month program designed to show you what we are about. |

|
| Nuts & Bolts
|
- Tests - Each week, you will have tests to help you learn about our history, ideals, and procedures.
- Activities - Each week, you will participate in activities to help you learn about what being a Sigma Chi means.
- Signatures - Each pledge is required to get every active's signature in their pledge manual. This helps introduce you to all of our brothers, including those that don't live in the house.
- Meals - Each pledge is encouraged to transfer their meal plans from Washakie to our house. The food's much better and also doesn't cost as much. Plus, it helps you get to know us.
